minimum of function with 2 variables

It's been many years since I last went to school and I'm faced with a buisiness problem which I would have solved in high school I guess...

I've got a function with two variables and wish to know the minimum of Z for x and y:

Z(xy)=22.5x+40y

Also a small explanation if possible, so I can make the calcultations myself again.

Many thanks in advance.

Re: minimum of function with 2 variables

If there are no constraints given, then the function has no extrema. The function as given can be made to take on any value we choose.
