 May 21st, 2011, 01:50 AM #1 Newbie   Joined: May 2011 Posts: 2 Thanks: 0 boundary conditions for advection equation The function u(x,t) satisfies the advection equation $\frac{ \partial u}{ \partial t}-0,5\frac{ \partial u}{ \partial x}=0$ in the interval $0 \le x \le 10$. The initial condition for this function is:$u_{p}= \begin{cases} 0 for 0 \le x \le 4 \\ sin[ \pi (x-4)] for 4 \le x \le 5 \end{cases}$. The function vanishes identically on region boundary. The task is to determine boundary conditions.
