Related Rates, regarding 2 ships

I have never encountered this kind of problem involving 2 parabolic functions, and I hope someone can help me figure out how to start this problem, thank you.

Ship A is following a parabolic path given by the formula yA = x^2 + 4 and ship B is following a parabolic path given by the formula yB = -x^2 + 4x - 4.

At time x in hours, the positions of the ships are given by (x,yA) and x,yB).

How fast is the distance between them changing when
x=1
x=.5
x=2

Re: Related Rates, regarding 2 ships

The distance between the two ships is given by 2x^2 - 4x + 8.
