need help with couple of forces

Refer the image please.
See the figure. The gray structures are made of concrete and the blue lines are strengthened cables. An engineer designs this platform for a shop to place a car. The owner of the shop decides the structure is not safe and strong enough. So he puts a wooden log (this doesn't have to be a log, it could be made out of concrete. doesn't matter.) to support of the structure.

* Does the log make the structure stronger and safer?
* Explain what happens.

Re: need help with couple of forces
