 September 27th, 2009, 08:05 AM #1 Newbie   Joined: Sep 2009 Posts: 23 Thanks: 0 can anyone tell me if i'm correct 1. write the relationship of 8 cubic feet to 3 cubic feet as a ratio: answer 8:3 2. write as a ratio in simplest form: 12 cubic feet to 16 cubic feet. answer 3:4 3. solve for the unknown in the proportion: x/4=2/3 answer 8/3 4. solve for the unknown in the proportion: y/3=3/4 answer 9/4 5. solve for the unknown in the proportion 5/2x=3/6 answer 5 6. a taxpayer pays a state tax of $600 on an income of$24,000. what is the proportional tax on an income of $36,000? answer$9,000 7. a consumer report has determined that 2 out of 5 sedan owners have an SUV as well. how many SUV owners are there among 50,000 sedan owners? answer 20,000 8. we want to cover a wall with 200 sq ft of acoustic material. each 16 sq ft panel costs $50. what is the cost to cover the entire wall? answer$625 in a table where y varies directly as x what is the missing value? x 3 5 8 14 and y 9 __ 24 42 answer 15 9. if y varies as x for the expression: f(x) = 4x, then four is the constant of variation, (k). answer true 10. express the chance you have of getting heads in a coin toss with a fair coin as a probability. answer 1/2 seemed pretty simple but the choices were 2/25, 2/1, 1/2, or 20% i thought it might of been some kin of trick question 11. if a single six-seded die is thrown, what is the probability of getting a 5 or a 6? answer 2/5 12. if y varies inversely as x, and k= -24, what is y when x=6? answer -14 13. if y varies directly as x, and y = 1/3 when x=4, write an equation for this relationship: answer y=4/3x

However, at a quick glance over... #6 should be 900. #11 would be either 1/6 + 1/6 or 1/6 * 1/6. You check which according to the rules you were shown. #12, #13 are wrong. #12 might be a typo, but you should show the steps on how you get to your answers if you want any real help. ...and not so many at once please.
