proving the reflective property of a hyperbola

about 1/4 of the way down the page, how have they went from step (3) to (4)?

Put one of the radicals on the other side of the equation then square both sides. Then move everything that isn't a radical to one side of the equation and the one radical you have left to the other side. Square again. You now got rid of all the radicals.
