What is Causal Relationship?

It would be really helpful if you can explain what a causal Relationship is
I found it in the following question:
Which best describes a causal relationship?
1. one variable takes place at the same time as another
2. one variable is causing change in another
3. one variable has relationship with another
4. one variable increases the possibility of another occuring
