You're given the equation: f(x) = ax + b And you have to decide the equation for it using these to equations: f(x+2)-f(x) = 3 f(4) = 2b By these two equations it should be possible to get the equation for f which is f(x) = ax + b But how do we do to calculate that. Thanks for help I do really appreciate it! Is this clear enough and not confusing? Or do I need to explain even better? I want to find an equation of the equations above which are: f(x+2)-f(x) = 3 f(4) = 2b So that I get an equation like: f(x) = ax + b Examples: f(x) = 2x + 4 f(x) = 4x + 2 Last edited by DecoratorFawn82; May 19th, 2015 at 05:03 AM.

From f(4), 4a + b = 2b, b = 4a = 4(3/2) = 6. f(x) = 3/2 * x + 6. Thanks from DecoratorFawn82
