So in my math class, we had to create our own statistics project, so I chose perform a test on 40 individuals where they have to look at 3 color pictures and 3 black and white pictures and calculate the time they spend on each picture. The purpose of the project is to see whether age is an important factor concerning color advertizing; that is whether certain ages spend more time on color or black and white pictures. My null hypothesis: Color and age groups are indepdent factors in the amount of time spent on pictures. So then my observed data table was 5 X 6; I found the expected values and performed the chi square test myself and I got 155. HOWEVER, the problem is, when I plugged the observed values in the calculator and performed the Chi Square test, the value i got was 4.825...?? How is that possible? I rechecked the calculations I did and everything else i the project but I kept getting a different answer than the calculator. Why did that happen? Is it because it's 5 X 6 or because I have 40 raw datas? Please help me
