sector and segment of a circle

please help me in my problem pleaaaseeeee...tnx

A sector of a circle is a region bounded by two radii and either the intercepted minor arc or the major arc. The area, A of a sector of a circle is in the same ratio to the area of the circle as the measure. theta, of the arc of the circle is to 360 degress

Area of sector = theta (all over) or A = theta x pi x r^2 (Over)
Area of Circle 360 degrees 360 deg.

A segment of a circle is a region bounded by an arc of the circle and the chord of the arc. Show that in a circle of radius r the area of a segment with the central angle of theta is

A= r^2 [ theta - sin theta]
2 [ 180 deg ]

tnx..please give me a hint now.......tnx a bunch..i need it ASAP! =)

Re: sector and segment of a circle

I don't answer questions ASAP since they have usually been left ALAP. However, ...
The radii forming the sector and segment can be joined to form a triangle. Subtract the area of the triangle from the area of the sector to find the area of the segment.

Not good. Be sure you lead the student in the right direction. The study should be developmental, not just scattered bits of information and problem solving. Here's a decent website: http://aleph0.clarku.edu/~djoyce/java/e ... ments.html
