Help

radical 50 + radical 80 =

I know the answer is 7 radical 2

radical 50 is 5 radical 2 and 8 is 2 radical 2

5 radical 2 + 2 radical 2 = 7 radical 2

But why does both 2 inside the radical add up to 2?

I assume you mean 8 and not 80

$\sqrt{50}+\sqrt{8} = \\

5\sqrt{2} + 2\sqrt{2} = \\

(5 + 2)\sqrt{2} = \\

7\sqrt{2}$
