The problem is My Attempt: $\displaystyle 2r\pi + 4x = 2, d/dx(r^2\pi + 4x^2) = 0; $ But both the equations does not seem to give me the result. Please help.

You should have $x^2$ instead of $4x^2$. It's then easy to show that choice (3) is correct.
