Thickness of tape question

In this question (attached), b) is asking for the thickness of the tape, however I am not quite sure what is mean by this. It obviously cannot be as simple as to subtract 82 mm from 102 mm and divide by 2, so how do you do it, i.e. what measurement is thickness of tape
