divide ellipse into line segments with required accura

How to divide ellipse into minimum unequal line segments of same mid-ordinate distance ?
or
how to divide ellipse into line segments with known/required accuracy or tolerance ?

I am looking for an formulae for the same which can be used in kind of programming.
