I hope you were smiling when you typed that.
I believe what we are both saying is that the geometric sequence won't work.

I give.

Divide a 33.3 unit line into 35 unequal parts decreasing in length from 1.18 to .88 is apparently just too hard.

How about these sizes: 1.18, 1.15, 1.123, 1.098, 1.075, 1.053, 1.034, 1.017, 1.001, 0.986, 0.973, 0.961, 0.95, 0.941, 0.932, 0.924, 0.917, 0.911, 0.906, 0.901, 0.897, 0.894, 0.891, 0.888, 0.886, 0.884, 0.883, 0.882, 0.881, 0.881, 0.88, 0.88, 0.88, 0.88, 0.88?

I gave those to 3 decimal places, which is why the last five appear to be the same. An alternative to the way the list ends is to start with less than 1.18.
Thanks from ronmryd

I now have a proverbial fish to eat tonight!

Thank you.

If you don't mind sharing the method (unless you did it by trial and error) I would be doubly grateful. If you do mind then I will eat my fish and be happily on my way.

My method wasn't good enough to be worth revealing, but I can give the values to 4 decimal places if you wish, which could be useful if you want to try tweaking them manually. Even when 4 decimal places are given, the smallest three values will still be the same.

Thanks but I'll be fine with 3 decimal places.

If anyone else has a formula eating a hole in their pocket let me know. I will be designing more instruments in the future and this will be something I need to do each time.

Thanks again.
