There is another issue which has not been mentioned yet. (As if an analytical solution isn't impossible enough to find!) Unless you specify otherwise it may be that x isn't a whole number. x! can be defined for any non-negative real number and you have to include such a possibility in a general solution. Fortunately we don't have that particular problem here.
