The shows the ageadjusted death rates (per 100,000 population) for heart disease in a certain country. ,,,,,,,Year19701980199019951997 DeathRate253.5197.4153.7135.6129.0 Use the first and last data points to find an exponential function of the form f(t)=y0b^t where t is the time in years and t=0 in 1970. Then use the model to predict the death rate in 1993. f(0)=253.5 f(27)=129.0 y0b^0=253.5 y0=253.5 f(27)=129.0 253.5b^27=129.0 b^27=0.5089 b=0.9753 <<<<How do we take 27th roots on both sides Please explain how do we get this answer. f(t) =253.5(0.9753)^23 =143 Thanks.

Use your calculator to get the 27th root.

Do you think I didn't?

You asked how to obtain the root, and I told you. I have no idea what you have tried or not, but it is easy to get using a calculator, so I assumed since you are asking, you did not try this. I enter into my calculator: (.5089)^(1/27) and it gives: .97529171561
