(simplify ) Q1.) Yes, this comes from $\frac{a}{b}+\frac{c}{b}=\frac{a+c}{b}$. Q2.) We are given to simplify: $2x-\frac{2x^{-1}}{-1}+C=2x-$$-\frac{2}{x}$$+C=2x+\frac{2}{x}+C$ Here I have used the following properties: $\frac{a}{-b}=-\frac{a}{b}$ $a^{-b}=\frac{1}{a^b}$ I moved this topic because it doesn't actually involve calculus. Although they may have originated from a calculus problem, the issues you have are algebraic.
