 July 31st, 2012, 01:48 AM #1 Newbie   Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 27 Thanks: 0 Rectangular Box The dimensions of a rectangular box are in the ratio 2:3:4 and the difference between the cost of covering it with sheet of paper at the rate of Rs.4/- and Rs. 4.50 per square meter is Rs 416. The dimensions of the box are: 1)6,9,12 2)8,12,16 3)10,15,20 4)12,18,24 5)none Please show steps...I don't know how to start...

The surface area S of the box is then: $S=2(2x\cdot3x+2x\cdot4x+3x\cdot4x)=52x^2$ We are told then that: $52x^2(4.50-4.00)=416$ Can you proceed from here?
