Stumped off a video game

Although I may not have all the info:
Took up through calc 3 in college but I guess I forgot it all :P

ok heres my question:

if I have 191 scf it turns out to be 5.16% vs lvl 50
what would the scf be at 40% vs lvl 50

also what would the scf and % be vs lvl 53?

this may be an impossible equation due to not enough info but my head hurts from trying lol

72 scf 1.95% vs 50
40 scf 1.08% vs 50
63 scf 1.70% vs 50
191 scf 7.81% vs 44

best of luck :P
Thank you in advance

Thanks

Assuming the relationship between "scf" and whatever your percentage signifies is a linear one (it increases/decreases at the same rate), the ratios should look like this:

191/5.16 = x/40 (x = unknown "scf")

191 * 40 = 5.16 * x (cross multiply)

7640 = 5.16 * x (multiply)

7640/5.16 = 5.16/5.16 * x (divide each side by 5.16 for the solution)

x = 1480.62

You can uses the above technique on any of the data you gave me for level 50 because the ratio of scf/percentage is always approximately 37. Divide 72 by 1.95, 40 by 1.08, 63 by 1.70; you will keep getting app. 37.

Now if you look at the ratio of scf/percentage for your level 44 example (divide 191 by 7.81) you get app. 24.5. This implies that whatever this ratio signifies, it increases as your level gets higher. To continue this based on the data you gave me, I need to assume that for each level increase, the ratio of scf/percentage increases by the same amount. We can find this amount, and use it to extrapolate what your level 53 ratio would be (you gave me no experimental data for level 53, so we need to draw conclusions).

The difference in level between 50 and 44 is 6 (50 - 44 = 6).

The difference in the scf/percentage ratio for level 50 and 44 is 12.5 (37 - 24.5 = 12.5).

Divide 12.5 by 6 to find the increase per level; you get 2.08.

We know that there is a difference of 3 levels between level 50 and 53, so we can multiply 2.08 by 3 to get the ratio for level 53. We get 6.24, which we can add to the ratio we already know for level 50 (it is 37).

37 + 6.24 = 43.24

What 43.24 signifies is the assumed relationship between scf and percentage for level 53. To find scf and percentage at level 53, you just need to pick any arbitrary value of scf (say 50) or percentage (say 3%) and then solve the equation for the unknown variable.

If you know the scf is 50, but not the percentage at level 53, so:

50/x = 43.24 (remember the ratio is always 43.24)

50/43.24 = x (solve for x, in this case it is percentage)

x = 1.16%

If you know the percentage is 3%, but you don't know the scf at level 53:

x/3% = 43.24

x = 43.24 * 3% (solve for x)

x = 129.72 scf

Hope this helped,
Ralph
