Finding the variance, given mean and standard deviation

A population of N=10 scores has a mean of 50 and standard deviation of 5. What is the population variance?

Hi tsl182forever8, could you please supply the exact wording of the question? Though I'm not good at statistics, I'm quite sure that there isn't enough information to carry out the calculation.

Isn't the standard deviation equal to the square root of the variance?
Then we have
s = ?(v)
s^2 = v

They gave you s, so square it...
