 November 17th, 2011, 11:59 AM #1 Member   Joined: Aug 2011 From: Alabama Posts: 93 Thanks: 0 find inverse of inverse function I have to find the inverse of $y\,=\,tan^{\tiny{-1}}(x/3)$. I know usually you just swap x's and y's, but I'm confused here.

The reason this is the "inverse of inverse function" is that $tan^{-1}$ is the inverse of the tan function. If $y= tan^{-1}(x/3)$ take the tangent of both sides: $tan(y)= x/3$. Can you solve for x now?
