2nd degree curves

[color=#0000FF]Good evening math wizards,
I am trying to master the use of “2nd degree curves” while lofting a flying boat fuselage.
If I have a curve that I wish to match… for example the Hull profile line from the step to the front post. Is there a method that can be used to quickly match the curve using 2nd degree curves? I am currently moving the 2nd degree curves shoulder point and looking at the resultant curve; I am thinking there must be a better way/method?
I can trace the curve with a spline but in doing so it will not be 100% fair and will not be a true 2nd degree curve. The result of running splines with no attention paid to curve types is fairing by eye which can lead to lumpy and bumpy lines.
I am no math wizard so please be kind

You have to have 10 or more posts to unfortunate but necessary anti-spam measure taken by our admin. I apologize for the temporary inconvenience.
