My Math Forum Surface Area: How do I find the dimensions with this problem

 June 26th, 2011, 12:17 AM #1 Newbie   Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 8 Thanks: 0 Surface Area: How do I find the dimensions with this problem The question states a box has a surface area of 198 cm squared Length is 3 times the width, height is 2 times the width, wants me to find what the width is. For some reason this one has really stumped me, I checked the back of the book and the answer is 3, but I can't figure out how to get that number. My textbook is horrible, it has so many problems where it's never taught you how to figure them out.
