Functions

Sketch the graph,label the asymptotes and state the range

1. f(x) = x+1 / x-3 ,x ?R,x?3

2. y= x+1 / (x-1)(x-2)

please help me to solve the question. i only know to find x=3,x=-1/3

1. f(x) = (x +1)/(x - 3), x ? R, x ? 3

There's a vertical asymptote at x = 3. Do you see why?



Zeros at x = 3, x = -1; test between and outside of this interval:

x > 3, function is positive
-1 < x < 3, function is negative
x < -1, function is positive

Range: (-?, 1) U (1, ?)
