If I was going to do it, I would get rid of the decimal representations in favor of rational representations. $x+\frac{2}{25}x=\frac{189}{5}$ Combine like terms on left side: $\frac{27}{25}x=\frac{189}{5}$ Multiply though by $\frac{25}{27}$ : $x=\frac{25\cdot189}{5\cdot27}=\frac{3^3\cdot5^2\cd ot7}{3^3\cdot5}=\frac{5\cdot7}{1}=35$
