This problem is pretty easy. The answer is -(sqrt 2).

This is because the cot pi/2=0 and the sec(-3pi/4)= -(sqrt 2)

Tip on calculating with Google Calculator

Did you know that you can have Google evaluate simple expressions for you? You get just a plain number, but that's enough to help you.

Note, however, that you must use parentheses correctly. Also, Google recognizes cotangent and ctan, but not cot. For the above expression, just give sec(-3pi/4) - ctan (pi/2) to Google and sec((-(3 * pi)) / 4) - ctan(pi / 2) = -1.41421356 is promptly returned.
