My Math Forum Completely Stumped on this one..

 September 11th, 2007, 03:22 AM #1 Newbie   Joined: Sep 2007 Posts: 3 Thanks: 0 Completely Stumped on this one.. 50 = x-(x*0.1) or "A number minus ten percent equals fifty".. Anyone else find this hard??

Thanks for the reply - but how did you get from -0.1 to 0.9?

50 = x - 0.1x

50 = (1)x - (0.1)x

1-0.1 = 0.9
