Five boys and five girls stand in a line. a. How many arrangements are possible? b. How many arrangements are possible if the boys and girls stand alternately?

These are basic permutation problems.

a. 10!
b slightly more complicate 5! each for boys and girls separately. 2 possibilities for first in line (boy or girl) Net result 2x5!x5!
