Test Statistic for Paired Sample TestIn this problem I am comparing two brands of golf balls using an automated machine so all variables are identical in both tests except for the brand. A random sample of each brand was taken: Brand A: 234, 236, 230, 227, 234, 233, 228, 229, 230, 238 Brand B: 240, 236, 241, 236, 239, 243, 230, 239, 243, 240 I am trying to find "The test statistic for testing whether the two population means are equal." I am using this equation: tstat = (dbar) - (?d)/((sd/(sqrt(n)) Where dbar = mean paired difference = -6.8 ?d = hypothesized population mean paired difference = 0 sd = sample standard deviation for paired differences = 4.442 n = number of paired values in sample = 10 I am getting tstat = -4.84 Unfortunately, this is a multiple choice problem and my possible answers are: 1. F = 1.115 2. t = 1.96 3. t = -4.04 4. t = -2.58 Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Thank you for your help. |
