Geometry: How to prepare for the school year?

I have about a month before school starts and I got my high school geometry a couple weeks ago. I've read through a third of the book. It's starting to get confusing though because I didn't memorize the theorems and postulates from the earlier chapters.

If I want to get a head start on the year, what should I do? Should I start memorizing postulates and theorems or something else?

Thanks

Do lots of proofs, both those assigned in the book and others you find elsewhere. Nothing will get the theorems and postulates into your head quite like using them frequently!

So... what's a proof? Is it any different than postulates and theorems?

Also, which proofs and theorems and postulates must I memorize? My book has about a 100.

I would suggest you get the basics out of the way first.

You must memorise SOH CAH TOA, and have Pythagoras' theorem in your head. Also memorise the trigonometric x and y co-ordinate axes that includes the first, second, third and fourth quadrants (All, Sin, Tan and Cos). Draw many graphs, and if you have a scientific calculator such as the TI-83, check out a few trig formulas and see what sort of graphs they produce.
