here's a nice simple proof of wilson's theorem by the same professor.

Good morning MMF members and guests,

Here is an excellent introduction to fractal geometry hosted by Arthur C. Clarke, interview of Benoit Mandelbrot and music by Pink Floyd to boot!

Re: List of Online Math Resources

Hi to all MMF members and guests!

Here is an excellent 20 lecture series on discrete math.

http://archive.org/details/arsdigita_02_discrete_math

If those links don't work it's all on youtube, i'll post lecture #20 and if you want the others you should be able to find them with minimum effort.

Project Mathematics was an awesome program series by Caltech and Tom Apostol. I found 4 episodes on youtube, there are more. If anybody finds any others please post the links!!

Re: List of Online Math Resources

If you are like me , you:

a) find modular arithmetic both inherently interesting as a field of study AND highly useful as a tool to study other questions in number theory;
b) enjoy doing empirical investigations both for their own sake and for what light they might shed on known problems and what new insights they might offer; and
c) have an almost infinite capacity to undermine your own investigations by making screamingly stupid, inattentive calculating errors!

If you see yourself in the above, you might enjoy a simple but very, very useful modular calculator I finally thought to google up to help me out of my latest morass!
