I love this beautiful science of patterns and infinity but I am a bit confused about what I really need to study. I am afraid to take my placement tests for college yet because I would like to place into Calculus and think with a little guidance I could pull this off. I WISH I could take a placement test online to see where I am realistically. Any suggestions please?

Well its done. I placed into Math 103. Fundamentals of College Algebra. It will take 4 semesters for me to make it to Calculus. I know enough about "higher math" to know I want to explore it, but I am disheartened by the actual level of my math skills. I want to major in math!

If you do well the first semester or 2, you could probably convince your advisor a professor teaching a discrete math or intro to proofs course to allow you into the course, so you won't fall behind by getting to calculus so late. Don't lose heart! If you truly have passion for it, don't let anything prevent you from learning. Ultimately, learning the math and appreciating it is more important than finishing a math degree on time. An extra year to graduate is not uncommon.
