hairy balls

If I have a fieldplot of a sphere in maple using this
fieldplot3d(f(x), x = -5 .. 5, y = -5 .. 5, z = -5 .. 5, thickness = 5)
And all vectors cancel, that is money right? Or is my approach wrong? Am I using the right plot utility, or is this a 2d thing?
